Twin Fin

BOARD: TF 98

Hello Peter,

I bought a twinfin oes custom with 98 liters in Holland. At first I never heard of OES but the shape looked ok. I (82 kg)was looking for something of that size but was not that keen on big boards. So I was a bit sceptic but heard about the advantages of big twin boards. After waiting a really long cold winter here in Holland I could finally sail it. I was blown away of the turning cappacity. It turns better than my 78 liter waveboard . It feels like you are sailing on a really small board but with the advantage of a “big board”. A couple of friends were also suprised of the upwind performance. The OES is also really easy to control. I am curious how it will perform with 4.7and below? We will see!
So I am really happy with this board because it sails so smooth, turns fantastic and floats when you need it. It’s the best board I ever sailed!
Keep up the good work Peter!

Best regards,

Martin Krul (Holland)

Man, I can’t say enough good about the TF85 you made me. It absolutely KILLS! I mean, loose and fast, but quick on a plane, and sets a rail unbelievably on a wave face. Seriously, dude, it’s hands down the best board I’ve ever ridden. You’re getting a lot of good “press” here on the Oregon Coast, and word is spreading in the Gorge too. Keep up the good work.

Hi Pete
The TF95 is awesome!!
Finally got a bit of wind locally- 10 gusting 25 really offshore, head hi sets. Rode 95tf with 5.7
Had great sail- 95 tf far and away best performing board out- got some great aerials like walkers while everyone else was struggling to get on a wave,
Harry was on a 105 fanatic- same as my old one, I was planing same time- he is 20kg lighter than me and I actually dragged him off straight line speed.

BOARD: TF90

I had a nice session on the TF 90 today… was marginal 5.0, so I opted for the 90… plus I was dying to try it out. We were at Davenport, which is sideshore. The waves were smallish and dumpy and the wind was more onshore than usual. The board was sweet – normally I would never have considered riding a 90 liter board with a 5.0, but the board never felt too big. You did a great job hiding a bunch of volume into really sweet dims. I know it’s there because I was able to make section after section deep inside the point where there’s no wind… never done that before. This board seems to float me, yet turns so sweet… took her for a pushloop – felt good in the air. This with my TF 78 will be my awesome 2 board travel quiver this summer.I’m pretty sure I need a single fin to drive hard off to get out. I’ll probably add an x-wave to the stable for Ocean Beach.

Below are my first impressions written over my first few days as a TF newbie adjusting to the twin fin:

re sailing the twin in op’ed conditions – it’s very easy to correct when you feel it start to spin out. In fact, before long, I was able to do it preemptively. The only time I found it difficult to correct was off the top a couple times when I ended up doing a slider across the lip and also when I spun out on a backside bottom turn and ended up sliding sideways facing into a pit – that was interesting!

First of all, it’s a looker – everyone wants to check it out on the beach. Kinda like leaving your hot girlfriend on the beach while you’re sailing. The construction is rock solid at a nice weight.

Man, that board likes to fit right in the pocket – and it bottom turns like a dream. I had some magical moments then got cocky and went for a late hit on a logo + section. I got worked pretty good with my back foot stuck in the strap. That was the end for Sunday. Conclusion – pretty different to ride, but I see the potential. Needed to play with fin position… the twins definitely didn’t like too much sail power. The board is very fast – no problem there, and lots of pop for looping and lip smacks.

Now that I’m more used to it, I’d say the board planes up fairly early, is very fast (sometimes too fast), bottom turns like a dream for going vertical… off the top is taking a little getting used to. I’ve had some magical cutbacks and a few nice off the lips, but at times I’ve found myself unusually ‘out of sorts’ when I get to the top. At first I was thinking that the board reacts different off the top, but actually I think I’m just getting to the top in slightly different form after the radical bottom turn… and I need to get that dialed.

The bottom line – with a little adjusting of your technique, this board WILL take your wavesailing to the next level.

BOARD: TF 95

Hi Rossy

securedownload-3

Rode 95 Twin Fin for the first time at middleton- exact day I had been waiting for – light wind with big swell. Plenty of banks working so some good right hand sections.

Wind was 5kts on the inside, washing machine of white water to half mast to get out through and mast high sets, 10-12kts on the outside. No one out.

95TF and 5.7 Severne punched out ok. Took off on the first wave and found the board just ripped. I had ridden the 95 a fair bit in smaller stuff at walkers and was confident it would be a perfect middleton board; it exceeded my expectations.

I had a great sail- waves on tap as I had the place to myself!! The light wind meant silky faces and great down the line sailing. The 95 TF planes so easily and the transition is so flat and easy onto the plane that when a few stronger 15kt gusts came through there were even some nice jumps to be had.

When the wind picked up enough for a few guys to get out the swell got cut up by the wind and the outgoing tide meant the swell eased; who would have thought that the 5-10 kt session would be better than the 20kt one!!!

I reckon its time to look at a 105TF!! A 105 TF and a 6.3 and we’ll be out in virtually no wind!! As middleton is often marginal these boards will provide an extra 10-20 days quality sailing per year.
